Books

We’ve all turned our ears towards podcasts and YouTube for discussions, but sitting with a good book or an article to stimulate thought and to learn from still provides great value. Here are some of my favorites that have become my classroom and teacher on connecting with one another in a meaningful and life-changing way.

Love-Connects: How Our Son Taught Us the Healing Power of Living-Connected

~ Tim & Susan Taylor

Love-Connects outlines practical steps of living-connected in a way that heals a broken heart, mends a marriage, repairs a relationship, and bears one another’s burdens.

Also, many of us hope that our lives will make a difference in this world. We want to leave a mark and be remembered…to do something BIG. It gives us purpose and helps us get out of bed in the morning.  Our son Lee didn’t invent anything or make any discoveries that changed the world. He didn’t win any championships or accomplish anything that will rewrite history. But he did live a life sharing in the sufferings of many others and became a Hero to them. It was out of his own physical, emotional, and spiritual pain that he gave us a blueprint on how to connect with people in a way that can heal the soul of its deepest wounds.

How to Listen with Intention

~ Patrick King
Learn to connect, create rapport, develop trust, and build deep relationships. In this day and age, the art of deep listening is a superpower. If you can make someone feel heard and important, you are on the highway to their heart. And it’s not as difficult or complex as you think.

How to Listen with Intention is ultimately a book about relationships. A relationship must be give-and-take – are you taking more than you are giving? Are you making people feel comfortable opening up to you? Are you listening well, or unwittingly being a conversational/relationship narcissist?
